On June 30, 2023, Sherry A. Lohman saw Jesus stand, and she accepted His reward and welcome into His Kingdom. She had labored faithfully, and the grace He had bestowed on her was not in vain.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Sara L. Whitmoyer (Adrianna L. Whitmoyer and Kaelyn M. Dick) of Greencastle, PA; Amy M. Whitmoyer of Fayetteville, PA; and Matthew K. Whitmoyer (baby boy expected later this year) of Charlotte, NC.

Parents: Edward and Barbara Hamilton of Philipsburg, PA.

She was preceded in death in December 2008 by her husband, Alan R. Lohman Sr.

Sherry was a 1976 graduate of Clearfield Area High School, a 1979 graduate of Western PA Bible Institute, and completed a Bookkeeping Certificate at Hagerstown Business College in 1995.

She faithfully used the gifts and talents God entrusted to her for His Kingdom. In her earlier years, she played piano and organ and led worship and choir in the church. At various times, she taught Bible classes to every age, including 8 years of Bible Quiz for teenagers.

In 2012, Sherry heard God calling her to minister to the people of the nation of Haiti. She taught many young girls and women to crochet, even showing them that they could use plastic bags from the trash to make beautiful hats and purses.

Later, God opened the door for her to begin to lead Vacation Bible School for children.

She was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in December 2017, underwent 3 surgeries, and multiple types of chemotherapy and immunotherapy over five and 1/2 years.

In October 2018, she made her 12th and final trip to Haiti. The following January, Jacques Merine, Director of Source of Life Ministries, recognized her passion for Haiti and invited her to become his writer for the ministry on Facebook and the ministry website. This ministry gave her purpose and great value for God’s Kingdom during many difficult days. She maintained this ministry until her last days on earth.

In addition, during her last two years, Sherry led online Bible study with two small groups of ladies. Studying God’s Word and helping ladies dissect it verse by verse brought her great satisfaction. It was a calling God had put in her heart since 1979.

One of Sherry’s greatest desires was to inspire others to use the gifts God gave them to their fullest extent. There is no greater joy or purpose in life.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12pm, Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Grand Point Church, 2230 Grand Point Rd. Chambersburg, PA 17202.

Private Burial will be at Quincy Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Local arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro

Sherry enjoyed many flower bouquets given as gifts during her last months, but it is her strong desire that NO flowers be given at her memorial. She requested that donations be made to Legliz Christienne de Jovin to feed the poorest of the church congregation of Source of Life Ministries, Haiti.
